Hello
I try to explain the situation as well as possible.
At work, we have 3 or 4 access databases. One of them stopped working.
The database is split into two files. One file is locally on every computer that uses the db and it contains forms, queries and reports. The other file contains the tables and it's located on a server.
We got new computers some weeks ago. XP --> 7. Everything worked well. Other databases needed macros to be enabled so the security setting was changed to allow all macros (nobody downloads databases from web). Everything worked well. Then, some other people enabled macros as well, without me being there. After that, database stopped working. I don't know if something else was done before it happened or what exactly was done. The database doesn't work on any of the work computers.
So, some of the forms/reports/queries don't work anymore. Access just seems to load infinitely when those forms are opened. I thought that someone somehow managed to put bad data into one of the tables so I opened the data file.
These are the tables.
CLIENTS, CLIENTVISITS, DETAILS, PAYMENTS, CONTRACTS, VISITTYPES, WORKERS
Everything works except CONTRACTS table. If I try to open it, access again loads loads loads. So, I believed that the db was corrupted. I restored a backup. It didn't fix the problem. Then I restored a very old backup. Same thing happens.
I encypted the file inside an archive and took it home. It works here. What is going on? Could it be HP security tools / encryption / manager? However, that has been on the computers since we got them and everything worked before.
I'm going to recreate the data db and copy the data into it and hope that fixes the problem. I don't know if it will work but even if it does, this is very worrying. Does anyone know what is going on or what can be done?`I would be very grateful.
