Hi,

We've got a database that was on an old computer (Windows 98), and we wanted to transfer this database to our new computers (Windows XP). The database transfers over fine, but there seems to be a problem.

When we try to run a report, it doesn't semem to work properly. We are a training agency and the report in question is designed to show the courses booked in for each tutor between two set dates. The dates are typed into a form (start date and end date), and the tutor can also be selected from this form, and then a report is generated.

Without dates being inputted, all the courses are shown (so the report is pages and pages long). This is working ok. However, when dates are inputted the report stops working and error messages appear on the report. Hence it seems to be a problem with the dates, but I can't understand what since all the boxes are exactly the same as the version on the other computer, and when transferred back to the other computer it also works fine.

Any help with what could be going wrong here would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Chris (FANE).

have you changed the version of access!!!

in your computer settings is your date format the same as the old 98 computer, you may want to double check this as sometime i forget to chanmge mine from US to UK, and it does cause issues.

Does the database still run on other pc within your office that are using XP???

The version of Access was different (from 2000 to 2003), but we even put 2000 on the new computer and the same problem persists.

The other computer (using XP), has the same problem, but I don't see how 98 and XP can effect the date in this way??

I think the date etc settings are the same. How do I do this to verify and check :)

Thanks for the help so far.

go into the regional settings in control panel, then click on customize, then click on the data tab, look at the short date format, i use dd/MM/yy.

I know there were some issue with queries when changing them from 2000 to newer version, what i would suggest is creating a new query, using your parameter from you form, and testing it, and see what is going on.... Your'll probably find its something small that you have overlooked, that access does not like in the newer version.

Good luck

Solved

The regional settings were indeed the problem.

Thanks you very much indeed for your help mate.
