Date switching issues

How can I make sure a date on my form will always be in this format: dd/mm/yyyy

Access seems to switch things around to it's own liking:

- 11/05/2007: Access reads this like 5th of november 2007 (wrong)
- 26/10/2007: Access reads this like 26th of october 2007 (right)

check your system settings for date - access tries to impose american settings if it can, giving you the november 5th issue you describe

in sql you can generally correct this by coercing any date to "long date"

as

format(mydate,"long date")
