I have registered date time picker activeX ("MS Date Time Picker Control Version 6.0) which is Mscomct2.ocx, put under C:\WinNT\system32. I use it in my form, run fine under MS Access 2000 and MS Access XP. But when I move the program to run under MS Access Runtime 2003, the Runtime version does not recognize this activeX control. How can I do so that my customer can also use this control with MS Access Runtime 2003? Note : It is no use if I copy Mscomct2.ocx to C:\WinNT\system32 in my customer PC.

just say no

I'm sure I'm in the minorty here, but I avoid using the MS ActiveX controls entirely. I've had so many problems with the date/time picker, in particular, that I've simply built my own. Mile-O-Phile does that with the calendar control--I know 'cause I stole his method of passing the value to & from the calling form for mine ;)

I'm hesitant to attach mine here because it isn't completely what I want yet. Search the archives, though, and you'll find plenty of samples to get you started on your own or to use outright. Start here for Mile's excellent version.

BTW, another reason not to use the MS ActiveX version is that it breaks when used on continuous forms...

register ActiveX Control in Runtime

I had similar experience too. Finally I used the Package & Deployment Wizard to make a setup program out of my mde file, included the required ocx file when asked. Run the setup on my client's computer to make it work.

Which solves the registration problem neatly (thanks for the tip!) but not the (IMHO) poor design of the control to begin with. Yes, the little red circle on the selected date is fun, but the control is not an efficient way to choose dates any farther away than the current month. Also, the problem with continuous forms remains...
