DB opens as Read-Only

I built a DB in Access 2013, and I have fully tested it and placed it on a server here at work. I split it into FE and BE, but now when Users try to open the front end, they always get a message that the database can only open a Read-Only copy and asks them if they want to Save As.. in order to update linked tables. :banghead: There are multiple people who need to edit these files, so Save As.. is simply not an option.

I checked the Options under Current Database and the database is set to open for shared use. The only locks in place are for multiple users trying to edit the same field. It seems like there's no reason for this message to pop up, but from reading the forums it seems like a fair number of people have asked this question.

Can anyone point me to the setting or option that is hanging this up? Many thanks for your consideration.

One thing to check is the user permissions on the folder(s) containing the FE and BE. They need read and write.

Good call, that turned out to be the problem. I could change the Read-Only attribute on my machine but not on his. I copied the front end to his local machine (it was hiding in the same folder on the server) and it works just fine now.

Thanks for the prompt reply!
