I have created a desktop shortcut to access the network DB - but it does not work. Even finding the target database on the Network Places and double clicking to invoike Access does not work. The only way I can open the DB at present is to open Access first/ then select the DB file from the File/Open menu - .... any ideas whty this should be happening please wuold be gratefuly received.

Thank you.
Regards
Guy

Try right-clicking the file selecting "open with"
Next find access and tick the "allways use this application" option at the bottom.

Click OK and you should be good to go.

No this doesnt work (as it should) - the icon itself correctly identifies the shortcut as an Access shortcut - and the properties / target path etc. are correct. It just doesnt work!

I go to Explorer and My Network Places and then open the db on the other computer at the db window.

I can click on any object with right clicker and create shortcut which will put it on the desktop of "this computer"

The shortcut will open the data base at the object selected. For example, I have a large macro which starts the db (form db window) and opend the forms, checks call back dates/times etc. If I make a shortcut to that macro it will do what it should do just as if I did it on the other computer.
