Why will this not accept a number with a decimal place like 6.5? It used to.

Re: Buggerd :-(

is the field type Long or Integer?

Re: Buggerd :-(

I have 4 numeric fields. In my table they are
Field size: Integer
Format: Standard
Decimal places: 2

In my Form:
Format: Standard
Decimal Places: 2

I've tries several options to no success?

Re: Buggerd :-(

In that case you need to change them to double (or currency) to preserve the decimals.

Currency truncates to two decimal places whilst double does not

Re: Buggerd :-(

just a little extra for clarification - Integers are whole numbers. They have no decimals after them. So having a field size of Integer and then format of Standard and Decimal Places of 2 is contrary to what the number type is.

If you put 6.5 into a field which is set to Integer it will round up to 7. Currency, Single, Double, or Decimal are the choices which allow decimal places.

Re: Buggerd :-(

Please note that using the title of your post as you did diminishes the value of all the support rendered. Because the system searches for matching titles, and eventhough descritpive of your state of mind, it does not match anything, and will be virtually unfindable later for others.

When the system finds a match to the title, it displays "Similar threads" at the bottom of the page.

Also, people look at the overviews with titles - and there "buggered" yields zero hints concerning contents.

Further, it screams "newbie who probably has not bothered to think about his or her problem".

Re: Buggerd :-(

The number entered in the table with a decimal works fine but not in the form. Does that make sense?

Re: Buggerd :-(

Your right I had no idea, thanks for the reprimand.

Re: Buggerd :-(

I've thought lots about it but newbie is fair enough.

Are you sure you don't have INTEGER set AT THE TABLE level on the field like you showed. It can NOT be INTEGER in the table. If it is, the form will not work either.

Yep double and triple checked and quadruple checked. I deleted the control in the form and put back a new one and it works fine. ????
