Hi it is most likely simple but I am not getting the result I like to get.

I have created a "qryContactSearch" and a "sfmContactSearch" linked to that query.

The DB FieldNames are in english but I like to display the names in german.

I tried in the query Property Sheet to set the Headings in those names I like to have displayed.
Also tried to name the field Headings in the Property Sheet in the Form.

When I open the sfmContactSearch on it self then it does display the correct names.
Once I open the form in another form frmSearchContact where the sfmSearchContact is linked it shows the "english" Names.

What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks for any help!

Cheers

It is not quite clear enough yet.

When you say "the field names", do you refer to the column headings such as for a continuous form?

I cannot visualize what you are seeing. You have enough posts that if you could take a couple of screen shots showing the correct and incorrect behavior, we might have a better idea of what is actually happening.

Hi,
sorry yes I was refering to the column headings in a continous form.

you can also use German Caption on design View of your Table/Query.
then Create New subform so the changes are displayed on the new subform.

Hi arnelgp,

Yes that is what I tried.. Changing the Caption on the "qyrContactSearch" and it shows it correctly when I have the subform not linked in a main form.
But once it is in the main form "I use it to filter the sfmContactSearch" then it showes again the origninal Field names .(

But I will try again maybe I overlooked something..

Cheers

I was able to change it now but not with the query I had to change it in the form Property Sheet "Caption"

Not sure why sometimes it is not working...

However many thanks for your input!

Cheers )

I would avoid using Captions defined in the table. They will be used when you least expect it and not used when you need them.

In the query, create a German Alias for each column you select. Recreate the subform based on this query. The names should stick even when the form is a subform.

While I appreciate the like, it is more helpful for those who find this thread later if you say whether you used a suggestion or not.

Hi Pat Hartman,

Sorry for not anserwing I was a little busy last few days but wanted to thank you for the reply.

I have not updated the all of the queries yet but I will do that and I am sure that will sort my problems.

Many thanks for your input!
Some things are very simple once you know them :-)
