I have a database for my book collection and I want to make a qwery that searches for a book by it's title. I got it to where it finds the book but I have to type the title into the prompt exactly as I have it in my table. Is there any way that I can make the qwery show results even if I don't type in the whole title into the prompt?

E,

The criteria for your query's book title columns should be:

Like "*" & [Enter a part of the title] & "*"

That will prompt you to enter a fragment.

Or you can use a textbox on a form:

Like "*" & Forms![YourForm]![YourTextBox] & "*"

It worked. Thanks for your help. Do you know how I can get the results I am looking for if for example I type in Celll instead of Cell.

Unfortunately, while Access is good, it ain't THAT good.

Give it too few letters - the LIKE operator will work fine.

Give it too many letters - it believes you. After all, YOU'RE the human. It's only a machine.

On the other hand, if you EVER solve the problem of having the machine do what you meant instead of what you said, let me know. I'll buy stock in the company, no questions asked.

You could use a combo box. The default behaviour is that it 'zooms' to a value as you type.

It's a type of form control. Access Help would be a good place to start!
