Hello,

We have been having alot of issues at one of our locations. I discovered that we have two computers with the same name? what kind of issues would this create?

Quite a few. I'm surprised it even let you do that to be honest.... I would imagine renaming the machine and restarting whichever PC is the master browser will go a long way to fixing your problems.

Hello,

Can you describe the issues ?

This depends on how the network is configured if you are using DNS then yes there is going to be problems if not then traffic is routed via IP address though again it can depend on the application.

JamesMcS suggestion should at least help diagnose the problem (though not sure what you meant (literally) by master browser :p)

I might be thinking of workgroups but there's a PC on the network that looks after allocation of names and addresses and whatnot

Love the Schrodinger's Cat bit, I nearly wet myself laughing when I saw that the other day

Are you sure both PCs are connected through the DNS? There is no way it would allow that.

See, that's what I thought! Bleedin Windows.....

I am surprised that the machine logs onto the network?!
