Drop-down filter in Continuous Form

I'm looking to implement the functionality of the filter drop-down found in datasheet forms.
Is there any option this can be done in a continuous form? Or somehow created?

We would use a datasheet but we have some complex formatting requirements which are not possible in that design.

Appreciate any suggestions on this

Probably with some difficulties or restrictions but check out creating shortcut menus.
