Hello,

I was hoping to get some suggestions on how to deal with our due dates. We have over 100 active jobs (records) at any given time, each with a due date we specify in a column called... well, due date.

We want a more visual way of viewing jobs that are due within, say 2 weeks. I realize there are sorting methods and filter methods, but I was hoping for something more.

My dream would be for the due date field in the TABLE (we use split forms) to turn red or something if that job is due within 2 weeks but as far as I know that is not possible. So I am looking for any ideas on what to implement, there must be someone out there who has a similar situation.

Thanks very much!

Have you tired using conditional formatting to change the color of a control that has the due date?

Maybe this will help:

Split forms suck for several of the reasons one does not display direct views of tables or queries.

I prefer to use subforms. They can be made to emulate split forms without the disadvantages.

The subform is used to display the individual record as a single form. The main form is used in Datasheet mode (or Continous form by stacking the controls together).

Then you have all the power of forms separate for the data entry and display areas with conditional formatting, a plethora of events, edit managment etc.

As HighTechCoach says you can use conditional formatting in a split form but IMO they will never be a peer for a form/subform arrangement.

What about this:

DATEDIFF ( datepart , startdate , enddate )
if enddate is less than 2 weeks then do the job...

Just chipping in:). In addition to what HiTechCoach said, maybe you could start with more subtle colours, like green if due in 2 weeks, then red afterwards. Maybe a colour in between too like amber. I'm thinking 3-way traffic lights as an example.
