Duplicate Autonumber

My system is split up into front end and back end. We had a problem today where the system seemed to have duplicated a few ID numbers. It is an autonumber field, and it shouldn't be happening. We dont really use it for anything, but it scares me to see 2 of the same ID number in an autonumber field.

Can anyone figure out why this would happen?

Depends on how Access is adding the record to the backend. How the tables are linked and all. If you don't use the autonumber, I wouldn't worry about it. I don't even usually have an autonumber field on my tables. As long as you don't have it designated as a primary key...(which of course you wouldn't, or there wouldn't be duplicates.)
