easy question: why is field list button disabled?

I'm new to access and am designing a form. For what ever reason, when the form is open and I'm in design view, the field list button on the design toolbar is grayed out, so I can't click it. I need to add source fields to a few controls (also, no fields are available in properties>control source for combo boxes). I have my tables and relationships all set up.

Any idea why this is happening, and how to fix? Normally the field list button works fine, but for some reason it is disabled on this form.

The first thing I would check is to be sure the form itself is bound to a table or query.

but i have this problem .
I have one form in access 2003 , when i want add field ( from table ) to it , field list icon disbale .

i can create form with wizard and add field , how do i add field in design view .

If the field list is disabled, the form is probably not bound. Open the form properties and on the Data tab, choose a query as the RecordSource or click the build button to create one.
