Editing date format in Excel import

Hello all.

I have a list of records to import from Excel into my Access database. The records were dated as the first day of the month in which the record activity actually occured. E.G. 4/1/2000. In the import, I would like to format the date date as either "Apr, 2000" or separate fields for month and year, with the month being three character abbreviations. I then need to query on the information by year to report a sum from those records.

So, the first question is: How do import the records in such a way as to edit the dates to reflect the new formats?

Can´t you import the records as they are, and then change them in access?

You don't need to split or change them, just select the month/year parts you want to report on via queries
