I was watching this video at time index 3 minutes:-

It appears that they may not be fitting the ceramic tiles to some of the starships.

The reason for this is thought to be to allow for more payload weight to be launched.

However it occurred to me if you launch a starship and get it into orbit, why bring it back?

The only reason you would want to bring it back is if you wanted to launch it again.

But if SpaceX achieve their goal of building 1000 ships a year, then why not leave it in space? It could serve as:-

A fuel tank
A habitat, weld many together to form a Stanford Torus.

Some could be convoyed to the moon and use as shelters.

Can we somehow transport beautiful scenic states like New Mexico and Montana to the moon and then live there?
Everyone has to interview for the approval to live there. If Uncle Gizmo decides you're NOT crazy, you can join

SpaceX should just build a spaceport and start launching starships from there.
Using the falcons to send materials and resources in orbit.
No need to get them back to Earth...
