Hi Everyone,

I am a total novice when it comes to VBA but thought i would post what i am planning to do to see if you can advise:

I have a DB and for one field on a form i have its called Documents Received and a date should then be entered. Once the record has been created this field should be completed within about 3 days. I want an email to be sent out to a specific email address if this field hasnt been completed within 3 days of the record being completed. Does anybody know how i could do this???

You would need a timer event on the on load of the application that checks a certain table for recrods that need reminders sent. Comparing todays date to the registered date where the difference is 3 or more days and no email has been sent.

If it finds any, a form should open to show you the records that need email reminders and a button to fire off the emails.
 
Thanks for that, is there not a way the emails could just be automatically sent? Without having to press a button once it has sorted the data?
 
It could, but the user will not have any way of knowing that the email was not sent until they visit the record. One mouse click is not going to cause to much of an issue. You could get it to do it automatically, then after sent it could raise a message box to ask/tell the user that nn number of emails have been sent. Do they want to view the receipents.
 
I understand what you mean about one mouse click not causing to much of an issue but if i was the person in concern that would be adding a record for that week while the other is on holiday, if i then opened the form and it asked if i wanted to send the email then surely i would say no as i could then see they have not been done and amend. But if it wasnt me doing it i would want it to send an email to that relevant person to tell them that they havent done it. (Hope i explained that clearly enough) I would need the email to go automatically. I understand i need a Timer event on the on load application but i am a beginner so wouldnt know how to write this or how to set up the emails to go out? Any ideas would be great.
 
It is becoming a bit clearer now it appears that you want an email sent to the creator of the record to remind them to send the email. Is that the case?
 
No sorry, there are about four people who will be viewing the db, 2 x managers, 4 x cust serv. The 4 x cust serv will be the only 4 editing the db the managers will just view the db. Once the record has been created we should receive the documents for a said order within 3 days and once we have received the docs the date will be entered into that field. If no data has been added to the field i would like to it to email all four cust serv staff so it would trigger one of them to chase up. I have one email address which is set up on all four comp so i only need to enter one email address as they will all receive the email. I just need to no how i would do this.
