Enter Date On Click

Sadly I can't test it at the moment as Apple have not brought out an iPhone Access app yet :)

Oh, I wish they would do that. I'm trying to figure out a way to access data from an iPhone/iPad right now. Given that Access still won't run on a Mac, our odds for it running on the phone probably aren't too good. :(

Here is the most recent code iteration:
Private Sub Memorandum_Enter()
Dim CUser, MN As String
MN = Nz(Memorandum, " ")
Me.Memorandum = Format(Now(), " m/d/yyyy hh:mm") + Chr(13) + Chr(10) + Chr(10) + MN
If Me.Dirty Then
Me.Dirty = False
End If
End Sub

When I click in the Memorandum field a date and time is inserted, after which I can add text. If I advance to the next record a date and time is inserted there too. How can we stop that from happening? Thank you!!! Norm

Hi Norm, seems you have found the flaw in my idea of using on entry as the event. If you advance to the next record while that is the current field it becomes the current field in the next record.

Idea 1 use the double click event instead, that way the date won't be inserted unless you double click in the field.

Idea 2 advance using the mouse not the keyboard that way the memofield cannot still be current.

I' m sure there are other options too but of course, they may have other drawbacks.

Isn't Access programming fun :)

You have done it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Moving the expression to On Double Click did it!

Thank you, Rick. Bob I really appreciate your help too!!!!!!!!!

Rick, I found a website for beginners that just may work for me.

I wish you both well,

Norm

PS, since I am new to this forum is there something I can do to acknowledge the help you have given me? You deserve it!!!

Great news Norm, glad I could be of help (albeit maybe more help without the typo's :) ), for me the only thanks I need is knowing that your issue is sorted and that I have been able to put something back into this forum as a way of thanking them for what I have already got out of it, I have only been a member for 3 days and already had help with 2 frustrating issues.

Seeing your question made me revisit something I had only half resolved many years ago and Paul's first reply to you, whilst not the answer on it's own, gave me the missing piece of the jigsaw and enabled me to solve my problem, it seemed only fair to try and help with yours in return.

All the best

Rick
