hey guys i thought i posted this thread yesterday but dont know what happened to it.

i am using the attached code in a form to obtain the hard-drive id and mac address both to be used as a little bit of protection (I know it's not bullet proof but the people who are using it arent that bright) it all works fine with access 2007 installed but when i try and use the run time only i get an error 5: invalid procedure call or arguement and im not sure why i would when it works fine for me.

If someone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Just a question before I look. Do you have SP1 on your Access 2007, but haven't put the patch on the runtime?

bob silly question how do i find in access 2007 where the "ABOUT" details are still trying to find some stuff compared to other versions of access. But i think you might be onto something there :) so how do i do that?

Well, not sure about the runtime, if it is available there (I haven't used it yet) but the version details are available by selecting the round office button, going to Access Options and clicking on the RESOURCES link. The version is on that screen or if you click on the ABOUT button as well.

Actually, you might put this code somewhere in the program that you can access (click a button, or something) and then compare the results to your main program:

MsgBox Application.Version & "." & Application.Build

bob ok did that the version i am running is 12.0.6211 and they runtime is 12.0.6304 so to me that means they have a later version :(

im just wondering if they might have a raid setup on that server of theres so might try another pc.
