I am regularly getting the error "There is not enough free memory to update your display, close unneeded programs and try again"

Access 2013 on a windows 7 machine with 4 processors and 24GB total RAM.

Today I have 14 GB free memory (unbelievable! my first laptop had 136 MB total memory!) when I got this error (Access using 38MB) which makes me believe its not a system memory issue but to do with how much (or quickly) memory is allocated to Access.

Anyhelp on how to troubleshoot this?

Note I am aware of design guidelines to increase performance/reduce memory (I cant post links yet), anyone know why access gives me this error when its only using 38MB of 14GB free RAM?

A couple of things to try...
1. Run Compact & Repair
2. Uncheck Track Autocorrect Name and Compact on Close

Thanks - I do occasionally compact and repair - apparently I need to do it daily!
Im curious about the origins of your number 2. Im a big advocate of compact on close - except if its hurting me!

  1. Compact on close has a nasty habit of (rarely) randomly corrupting a database. Because it doesn't create a backup before it compacts, if anything interrupts the process or something else goes wrong, you run the risk of the entire database becoming non-usable. You're better off either manually backing up the db and then manually compacting, or else creating code that does it for you.
  2. Your first laptop had 136MB total memory? You're making me feel old here - my first computer had 20 *KB* memory. :(

OMG - my first calculator had only 10 bits... or digits, if you will :D

LOL

Yeah, I wasn't counting calculators. I don't even know what my first calculator (1975 or so, I think) would have had by way of memory.
