Error trying to add a subform

Access 2000

When I try to add a subform to a form, I get an error saying:
Your Code contains a syntax error, or a MS Access function you need isn't available.

I created a new form with no code behind it, still get the error.
I wasn't able to locate this on the Knowledge base.
I can do this in other databases so I don't think there is anything wrong in my Access install.

Any ideas?

I finally got it working. Not sure about the error but it works now.
