Extending a Date

Is there a way to extend any date to the first day of January in the next year? (example 13/Oct/08 to 1/Jan/09 or 3 Sep/09 to 1/Jan/10)

All you'd need to do is grab the year of the given date (Year function) and add 1 to it, and use that plus 1 and 1 in a DateSerial function.
