Field will not update?? Help1

Hi.

I have 2 small tables with under 20 fields. The fields are the same name and type,etc.
When I try to update the exit date field in one table with te info in the other, it appears to take when running the query, but when opening the table, it appears with no data in that field.

why would you have the same field names and data types in two tables?

Hi.
It has to do with the fact that the database exists in various agencies and I am merging them, but there were some differences. And then I must alter some fields for still another agency.
