Filter field

Hi
I have a field which contains data seperated by a space. I.e.
StockRefField
CT012 Freepost Envelope

What I want to do is seperate the CT012 from FreePost Envelope into different fields. I.e
StockCode Desc
CT012 FreePost Envelope

Is this possible........................

you could use the Left function if the length of data in the field is consistant

e.g
Left([FieldName],5)

would return the first 5 characters from the field
