I know I have duplicate records in a table and therefore I used the "Find duplicates Query Wizard" to identify the duplicates.

I am positive - there are duplicates and the query does not perform the way it should be.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Just before you ask - I know I should never allow duplicates.
But this table is built by getting external data (Excel) from a Web Site (US Customs). US Customs report is live and, when imported, some of the records get repeated with the full range of fields being updated!

Thanks - Help from your group is always greatly appreciated!

P.S. Is there a way we can print some of the suggestions made to users?

I just made another table in your data base....a copy of the table in question...but with only the one field.

Appending to the new table got all 506 records across. I did the new table with a Primary Key and also no primary key but field set to no duplictes.

Can you identify a couple of the records which you feel are duplicates.

I just saved you data base and then imported the table to a blank data base.

With append query all the 506 records come across.

However, with Paste and Paste Append it drops 20 of them.

If in the new table I have the 506 records and change the field to Primary Key it won't accept the change. Your table allows me to change the field back to Primary Key when the 506 records are there.

That table is weird, way above what I am familiar with.

Initially I had one table with 37 +/- fields. I splitted the information between two tables. Both tables as I explained to the group I work for come from different sources and therefore should not be put together. I was hoping to make the table work better but I encountered the same problems you did.

I agree that the table is weird and I am still debating but the people I work with want to perform reports, analysis and I think that Access is the only valid tool. I might be wrong.

Oh! I forgot: some of the duplicates bring the number of records down to 486.
112-7485821-5, 112-7485936-1, 112-7485937-9,336-8286162-3 and so on. Thanks to the people who answered. Your replies are always valued!

I just tried exporting table WorkCopy 2 (I have used that table as it was highlighted when I opened your DB) to a new blank DB, made another table with one field to match your first and one complete copy of your table.

Same deal, Append Query gets all 506 records across and Paste and Paste Append drops 20.

However, when you paste to the copy table that has all the fields the message keeps coming up about fields too small. I think it was about 20.

I then mada e acopy of your table and changed all fields to Text/50 characters and still the same deal

If you Append to the copy and get the full 506 and then do a copy/paste append on the copy table it lets 16 of the 506 records across so as to finish with 522. Running the Append Query twice aslo gets another 16 records across on the second attempt.

This is giving me a headache:D

My initial table "Invoice Tracking 1211" was the one officially in use. Since the queries that the group I work for wanted to extract most of the informations from the fields that you can see in the "Master Copy1", I decided to split the "Invoice Tracking 1211" between the info needed for A/P and the info provided by US Customs. I ended up with "Master Copy 1" and Working Copy 2". I then created a"Working Copy 2" Query and put the two tables in relationship with a type 2 outer join property.
Perhaps it is the join property that is wrong. What do you think?
