First Letter Only

OK another one:

Table 1 has S (Forname), Evans (Surname)

Table 2 has Simon (Forname, Evans (Surname)

How do I run a query that shows me matches from both tables based on the first letter of the forname and the surname.

Create three queries

Query 1

Col 1
FullName:Left(surname,1) & " " & Trim(Forename)

Col 2,3,4,5,etc
Any other relevant fields

Query 2

Repeat for above

Query three

Bring in Query1 and Query 2
Create a join between FUllName in both queries

Drag down an other fields you want to view

Then open in datasheet view to display matching records

Query three can be created using the Find Matching Records query Wizard.
