form not updating table

Thanks for previous answers
I am a newbee and struggling
to make thingsd easy for me to understand .I have created two tables customers and orders . related together
all seemed well untill i tried entering an order for an existing customer it wont update the orders table with the cuid if i enter a new customer there is no problem

I assume you are entering data through a form. If so, is your form bound to the table?

HI alan many thanks for replying
I am entering via a form not sure if bound ?
I highlite orders table and create a basic form using the wizard
I now realise that when i choose an existing customer ,instead of creating a new ordersID it simply updates the original orderId with current date ect
new customers are no problem
