Hi, I am sure this is stupidly obvious but...

I have a form that resizes itself to maximum. It doesn't matter what I do, it seems possessed! I have followed the advice on here and have set it as dialog, I have set the width, I can set it as a pop-up but then it refuses to go away! It retains the width whilst I am in the database but if I close the database then re-open it, next time I open the form it has once more maximised.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am at my wits end (if i had any wit left...)

Stab in the dark here - have you tried setting the AutoResize property of the form to 'No'?

You aren't maximizing the database window are you?

Also, there are no macros or code that are using DoCmd.Maximize?

Also, are you opening another form (that is maximized) before opening the possessed form? Once a form is maximized, all subsequent forms will open maximized, unless you use the Me. Restore command in the Form Load event of the later forms.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't maximising any previous forms and I havent set maximise on the properties of the evil form in question. I am so pissed that I gave up trying to make it appear smaller and filled the form up with images ! I shall be struck down by the God of Good Coding now....
I shall definitely try the me.restore command tho! Don't suppose anyone knows how to set the default currency to dollars?!
Thanks again.

i'm having the same problem. my custom switchboard form maximizes only when re-opened (ESPECIALLY when swiching between design and form views) and only in access 2007 (works fine in earlier versions).

it is also sporadic. sometimes it resizes (to maximum available space), sometimes not, more often than not, though.

i have set ALL options (that i am aware of) to prevent resize/maximise/etc... it seems only to be 2007, and only that one form, no others. is it perhaps related to the fact i have it as the default form to open when the database opens?

Arggh! I just started using 2007 tonight and I have a similar problem. In fact, nothing about forms that works correctly in the old versions seem to work right in 2007.

Alison, what version of Access are you using? Would you be willing to post your db?

i think if you just stretch the window hanldes it doesnt change anything. you have to move a control slightly, or resize a control, then resize the window, then it will save the resize

the other thing i use is something from the access cookbook which actually saves (in the registry - uses savesetting - perfectly harmless) the size and position of each form before closing, and then reopens at the same position. This helps the user arrange his access app to suit himself. You can also use this technique to save the last edited record, and reopen to that record - it looks impressive, and its userfriendly

my update history states that i have installed not only the SP1 for Office System 2007, but also some other updates. i haven't had a chance yet to check to see if there are any hotfixes for this specific problem... will maybe get to do it in my lunch break...

resizing switchboard when opens

i also have the switchboard opening at startup, on access 2007... and cannot find out how to resize.. did you ever figure out this problem? I have auto size off/ i have tried everything i can think of... thanks for any input.

ooops.. thanks! guess i cant used tabbed documents with a swithcboard!! works now! thanks!
