formating the ControlTip Text

I'm trying to include some text and the contents of a date field but having trouble with the syntax.
It wont display the contents of the date variable

I have
"Effective Date = " & #" & Me.DebtPrincipalDateFld & "#

I've tried a number of combinations and searched all over but to no avail

Any help would be appreciated

Try,

"Effective Date = " & "# Me.DebtPrincipalDateFld #"

Try the below:

"Effective Date = #" & Me.DebtPrincipalDateFld & "#"
