I have a form in a multi-user database built on several tables. It works for a while and then suddenly, I get this error:

"the multi-valued field '[WorkGroup]' is not valid in the expression "IIf(isNull([Staff].[LastName]),IIf(IsNull([Staff].[FirstName]).[WorkGroup],[FirstName])IIf(IsNull([FirstName]),[(LastName],[LastName]&"," & [FirstName]))'.

I don't have "WorkGroup" in that expression. I have spent about a billion hours putting this database together. I used a MS template (the one for teachers) as a base and edited it and I hate to start over because I have so much into it and I didn't know anything about Access when I started. I would be happy to send the DB to someone to look at. I will delete the records because it's a personnel database. Please help. Thank you.

Looks like the problem is inside the second iif statement.

yes, one would think. But then if you go into the expression, that [workgroup] isn't even there. which is why it confounds me.

Well, color me stupid! I went into the FORM properties and looked at the expression there and low and behold...there it was staring me inthe face. Sorry. :( Fixed and working.

Look at the staff table and see if there is anything weird with that controls properties. Look at the data for unusual characters. Maybe something is confusing access. Check the data type of the field. Also, is this a linked table? Is it linked correctly?

edit: good for you.
