Is there a way to write a formula in a field that would multiply my "Quantity" and my "purchase price"? I know it's easy in excel, but i dunno about Access.

Thanks

Where are you trying to place the calculation? On a form, report, or query?

in design view for the form.

controlsource? i dunno where that is. I've entered the new field name "Total value" and that's as far as i've gotten.

i'm really not seeing what your talking about. ok, i'm in design view. i have all of the field names, the data type, and a description for each. when i highlight the row with the field name "total value" and click properties a window opens up for database properties. that window has one tab "general". i've searched around and can't find anything that resembles Controllsource. it is in the help menu, but it's not very helpful.

oh, ok. thanks. it worked :)

so now , since my company mainly looks at it's inventory in table view, is there a way to make that total value appear in the table ?

thanks,
Supertech

your company actually looks directly at the table??? It seems dangerous to me. but to answer your question no you can't set formulas in the table as far as i know.
