Front end takes sooooo long to edit - Help

Does the front end reside locally using linked tables to the Back End data?
Do you still have the copy of the data on the server? It location?
What is the Server? I believe on a 100Mbit infrastructure?
What is OS on the Server, RAM, what is task manager saying as to what the server is actually doing? Looking for a rgoue or runaway process.

I have personally experienced an instance where an Exchange file, I forget the exact term, but this file could be accessed by the AV software and the file server just red lined, the reboot took two hours. I not suggesting this is the case, but I certainly make sure that the AV does touch away of the Access file extensions.

I'll have a look and see if I can get the AV program to exclude the database folder from its checks.

I would suspect using a Windows XP Pro PC as a server.

btw I have now pretty much resolved the problem with taking ages to save design changes.
I recreated every query and most of the forms and it seems a good deal better now.
