I am splitting a database and I do not want users to see all the contents of the Database window.
I know I can hide it at start up, but I do want the users to be able to compile Reports. Is there anyway I can do this?

I am not a programmer nor do I know VB !

I would like to take this opportunity of saying what a great forum this is.. it has helped me a lot, thank you all!

What do you mean "I do want the users to be able to compile Reports?" If you mean that you want them to be able to create their own then you are venturing into troubled territory. If they need their own reports they should have a separate database frontend that they can use to create their reports so you don't have versioning issues with the other.

Thank you for that!

I have created all the reports they asked for but I did think that they may need others- as they are not competent users I think the best thing is NOT to let them do it.
If they need other reports they'll have to call me in!

Thanks again.

you can refer to the user-level security concept in the ACCESS.

by this way, the normal user (user id ADMIN) should not be grant the "Modify Design" permission for <New Reports>

in the menu -> Tools -> Security -> User and Group Permissions

for detail information, you can get from the Access online help (F1) in the topic of
Security and Privacy -> Security -> Making an Access File More Secure -> About user-level security (MDB)

CAUTION, please backup your MDB file first.
