Hi guys and gals,

First of all, thank you for reading this.

I've been wondering about when would be the best time to negotiate about a job promotion or for a raise. I'm hating my job and 've been looking for jobs. All were turned out. Man! what a poor life I'm having.

Thanks alot.

After you have made yourself indispensable. ;)

With apologies to dan-cat, never make yourself indispensable. Then you can't be promoted.
The best time to ask for either is after you have completed a project that impresses the boss.

:D I like that TIP but:
That depends on which position you are in. If you are a full time programmer, iam quite sure 'Access' projects can never get complete. And if you show it to the boss and he feels like its complete, he will load you another immediately.
On the same note, if your boss is or has ever been an IT guy then, just get assured that you will never finish a project. Why? because IT guys know things can be automated by "easily" programming, yet they dont wanna hear/feel/see/touch anything called code. Damn! IT-Guys.
****My Mentor Advised me never to do a project to completion when in the above scenario, why? Because u dont get so hurt when they Jam paying you up****

I personally, learnt how to be content with the orignal payments if iam working under someone then i am consoled in with private bussiness.
