I was walking through the client's office one day and passed a cube with a young girl trying to edit a table structure in the database. I stopped to ask what she was doing. Well... she was studying Access (a good thing) and was trying to edit a table and add more fields that she wanted (not so good). In the production FE database on her machine. REALLY not so good! Luckily my system pushed the fe and libs to the workstation when they started the db so whatever she did was not permanent. Still I had to have a conversation with her...

And so C2DbProperties was born. C2DbProperties allows the dev to, from the C2DbProperties tool, select a database and edit properties such as StartupShowDBWindow, AllowBreakIntoCode, AllowBypassKey and other little trinkets that we might want to set to tighten up what the user can see and do. We can set these properties false before pushing the fe (or libraries for that matter) out to production.

Available on my Blog. Google Blogger and jwcolby

Join me for a presentation on C2DbProperties at the next Access Pacific meeting.
