I have been using access for a while, but only for sorting, mail merging and simple queries.
I have a task to do at work, that I could do in a spreadsheet but it would be very laborious and prone to error!.
I have 170 pupils aged 14 who have just made their choices for subjects to study at GCSE in years' 10 and 11.
They can have 3 subjects but must pick 5 giving two reserves and they ordered their choices from 1 to 5.
There are 14 subjects to choose from and I want to automate this so that I end up with three groups of option choices that I will name: Block A, Block B and Block C. A subject can appear in more than one block and I would envisage there being 8 subjects or so in each block, so for example, there may be a group of History in 2 or 3 of the blocks and so on with the subjects. Music may only appear once, it just depends upon the numbers who have chosen a subject.
Is this going to be difficult, can it be done in Access, can anyone give me any pointers as to where to start?
Regards
Paul
