Going potty - what am I missing ...sum () issue

Don't think, this is the right way to calculate vat.
I suggest you look at an online free VAT calculator vatcalcfree.com to calculate these things. This calculator will not only save you time but also provide flexibility
Almost an 8 year old thread? :(
I would think the O/P has solved it by now, as they have not come back in all that time?

This has the hallmarks of a spammer. New Account. First Post. Very old Thread. Link to an external site.

Call me cynical.

but more so why a sum of the LinecCostExVAT isn't summing properly!
Rounding in a calculation doesn't change the data as stored in the database. When you sum values from the table, all the decimal digits are included so you will frequently get sums that don't agree with what the visual is showing.

If you want to restrict results to two decimal digits, you MUST round at the time the data is saved and save the two digit number. Then all further sums will be correct.

You can work around this by adding rounding inside the sum
=Sum(Round([LineCostExVAT],2))

Quite funny really as in his other post he was asking for maths help? :)
