Ten years ago I bought the Access Bible and began reading and simultaneously writing the database program that would become the backbone of my employment agencies contact management system. I only made it about 1/2 way through the book and my program was quite useable.

Six years ago I hired a Rails guy (friend of mine) to rewrite (and supercharge) my app for the web. His app would have been great but it left me powerless to make any changes or updates. We decided to scrap the Rails app and finish mine.

Now we meet virtually during his lunch hour and he mentors me while sharing my screen. We both have Macs and I have virtual windows machines running on mine. I'm pretty good at the architecture and although he really does not know Access, he is amazing with coding strategy. So we read the forums and write some pretty cool code together.

I'm looking forward to getting answers and writing more complex stuff without his help.
