Hello

Firstly this forum has helped me massively previously when devising access systems.....sadly I’ve let that knowledge slip and trying to pick up what i can.

Sadly, I’m struggling on a Navigation Form

I have a Navigation form (frm_Navigation_Form) that has 3 tabs relating to other forms i.e. frm_Patient, frm_Letters, frm_LogOut

I have built a search engine function into the system but I’m unable to get it to goto the frm_Patient form within the frm_Navigation_Form

i can do a simple docmd.openform "frm_Patient" but that only opens the single patient form rather than its opening it within the navigation form

ARGHHHH!!!!
I’m not trying to do something that’s impossible am I?
I’m just trying to create a command button to open up a form that is within a navigation form

Hello askwilson, how about setting the Focus.. I have not used Navigation Forms.. but is it not automatically coded to display the appropriate form?

Or is this search engine a different form on its own?

Try setting the focus to the form, or a control on the form you want to show:

e.g. Forms!mainform!subform.form.setfocus

pr2-eugin: the search is just a form with VB code to look up Forename and Surname then takes you to that patient.

Kleky: thanks for that, i've entered the following code
Forms!frm_Navigation_Form!NavigationSubform.frm_Patient!Control.SetFocus

but i get the following 'Cannot find the referenced for frm_Navigation_Form'

Forms!frm_Navigation_Form!NavigationSubform.frm_Patient!Control.SetFocus
'

Sorry, 'Control' should be the Name of the control to set focus to. But first try setting the forms focus.

Forms!frm_Navigation_Form!NavigationSubform.frm_Patient.Form.SetFocus

ARGHHHH!!!! Thanks Guys but still no look. the spelling of frm_Navigation_Form is correct.

On the frm_Navigation_Form i have named the 'Patient' tab PatientTab

Forms!frm_Navigation_Form!NavigationSubform.frm_Patient!PatientTab.SetFocus

Sadly still the same message of 'Cannot find the referenced for frm_Navigation_Form'

Okay I am a bit  Could you show the hierarchy of the forms? Names of the Navigation form, the form you want to open.. Does Patient Form has another subform in it? Or it has a 'Tab'

Try the following..
Code:
[B][COLOR=Red]Forms[/COLOR][COLOR=Green]![/COLOR][/B][COLOR=Blue][B]frm_Navigation_Form[/B][/COLOR][COLOR=Green][B]![/B][/COLOR][COLOR=Red][B]frm_Patient[/B][/COLOR][COLOR=Green][B].[/B][/COLOR][COLOR=Blue][B]Form[/B][/COLOR][COLOR=Green][B]![/B][/COLOR][COLOR=Red][B]PatientTab[/B][/COLOR][COLOR=Green][B].[/B][/COLOR][COLOR=Blue][B]SetFocus[/B][/COLOR]

Try

Forms!frm_Navigation_Form!PatientTab.SetFocus

The tab control/subform shouldn't be referenced as it acts just like a control, not a subform lol

Thanks for that :)

As you can see this is the form i'm trying to get a command button to access

So what happens when you use..
Code:
[B][COLOR=Red]Forms[/COLOR][COLOR=Green]![/COLOR][/B][COLOR=Blue][B]frm_Navigation_Form[/B][/COLOR][COLOR=Green][B]![/B][/COLOR][COLOR=Red][B]frm_Patient[/B][/COLOR][COLOR=Green][B].[/B][/COLOR][COLOR=Blue][B]SetFocus[/B][/COLOR]

Wait is the search button on the Navigation form? If so.. try..
Code:
Me!frm_Patient.Form.SetFocus

No, the search button is on a different form.
Even on a blank form with a command button to open the form does'nt work

Feels like this is going round and round.. Is it possible for you to upload a Dummy version (made up date) copy of your DB?

Just to make sure, you're using the name of the subform and not the tab/page name?

Hello

Apologies for the delay, i've had some time off

Please find attached DB which is driving me mad :) :banghead:

Thanks
