Hi,

I'm new to both Basic and Access and I've seen this around here and there:

>

What does this mean??

I'm wondering because I get a compile error on the middle line of the following code: (I got this code from the forum and > is the only thing I don't understand).

Dim lFieldLength
lFieldLength = 3
If Len(Me.[textMonth]) > lFieldLength Then
Me.[textMonth] = Left(Me.[textMonth], lFieldLength)
End If

What's going on??!!

thanks,

Raymond Warren

In that context, I suspect it is a mis-represented graphic of the "greater-than" symbol.

Correct, it is the either the greater than or less than symbol. I have seen this in several posts in the archive. Other non-alpha characters exhibit similar translations. I don't know exactly why. It seems that only comparison characters ("<",">","=", possibly others) are affected. I do not recall if it affects text contained only within PHP ranges, only outside PHP ranges, or both.
