Found this little article regarding China and their economic future. Might explain why we hear a LOT about the Middle East and some issues about the Russia & Ukraine conflict, but fewer headlines with China, particularly very little except for tariff news.

It would also explain why at the moment, we aren't seeing a rollback of China's tariffs. They can't afford a retaliation that would further cripple their economy.

China is like Asians are sometimes. Sneaky, quiet, more passive than agressive, but always with a plot or plan in the background.
I don't take their silence for any good.
Unlike North Korea, for example, where silence seems to mean we are safe from them for the time being. When they want to play mean, they start shooting stuff into the snowy landscape.

Right now, North Korea is still experiencing the sting from that failed launch of their missile frigate that - to be gentle about it - didn't stay upright after launch. Chairman Kim was not pleased. Several of the dockyard's engineers probably personally felt the intensity of his displeasure. I think that is the gentle way to say it.

Have you been following Gordon G. Chang by any chance?
When he comes on, I make a point to listen to listen to him.
He periodically appears on Fox News to dispense negative concerns with China.
I won't go beyond that. Best you hear it from him directly.

I don't listen to Fox News that much. However, I have seen articles by many commentators and analysts who report dire warnings in what they see regarding China's economy. Among other issues, it appears that they have been building things with sub-standard materials. For example, the news article during the last week about the truck that was hanging over the edge of a gorge because the bridge got washed away - and it didn't look like an insubstantial bridge. I'm seeing notes about the man-made islands they used as a way to extend the reach of their territorial waters (by building new territory). Some of those islands are showing instability that would make them collapse back into the ocean. It is interesting because all of the symptoms point to China having learned a lesson from some USA contractors - you can still get paid well for "shoddy" without going all the way to "sturdy."

Where are the environmentalist when it comes to China disturbing the ecology of the ocean environment and China building polluting coal fired power plants?

The environmentalists seem to be controlled by an on/off switch under the direction of some left wing entity. They will violently block freeways in the US to protect some endangered animal, but China destroys the environment and they are silent!
