The first thing that might be worthwhile in the introduction is I can't watch the how to videos because this is a company machine and they block that kind of stuff so I'm flying blind here.
No, I'm not a programmer, I'm a chemist (USA kind). I've been fooling around with programming since DOS 2.0 first with GWBASIC, then C, and have even dabbled with assembler some, but that's been a while and haven't maintained what few skills I had picked up.
I have fooled around with some database programs before, Paradox mostly (anyone heard of PAL?). Mostly the old DOS based stuff. Understand the concept of relational databases at least.
I've got Access as part of the Windows office suite and have been trying to find my way around it for a while. I'm trying to write applications for lab data and maintenance. Been doing this for maybe a year and a half, but not continually as I have other duties not computer related, like running reactions and doing analyses. I guess you might say this is my hobby.
I'm doing OK I think, making progress. I get stuck sometimes though, or wonder if my approach is good or not. Anyhow when that would happen I'd try googling and most of the time I'd wind up here getting an answer more often than not. So gee whiz, why not join.
Thanks for being here and the past help and thanks in advance for hopefully future help.
