Hi
First & foremost Thankyou to the site owners and users for such a wealth of knowledge.

By way of introduction I am somewhat IT literate but my brain hurts.

I have just completed an inventory Database and am now enjoying the complex nature of data interrogation.

To cut a long story short amongst the usual stock & price information I would like to be able to utilise the web app if possible to enter a product barcode for the database to then churn the relevant information on screen.

That is it in its simplest of forms and I Thankyou once again for the foundation to better programming access.

Sincerely

Khalid

One of the great advances of Access/Sharepoint is the simplicity of the architecture to reduce macro creation and simplify data analysis:

In the "List View" by simply entering the relevant 'Barcode' in the existing search field, the inbuilt filtering system will display corresponding stock item as visualised.

Enjoy!

Hi Khalid,

Yes, you can use a bar code scanner to easily enter bar code numbers into your web app view controls.

On our team blog, you can see a blog post of an Access web app we created for McKinstry to track their tools. In the video that accompanies the blog post, you can see an example (and hear it too) where the bar code scanner is entering the information into the filter box to search for a tool or to check in/check out a tool.

Here is the blog post:

You can find that free app in the SharePoint Store if you wanted to check it out.

Dear Jeff
Thankyou very much for your most informative reply.
Can you suggest any particular scanner?
I have asked Microsoft Sharepoint to develop an iphone laser scanner app to display mobile data on screen when relevant barcode is scanned with iphone further enabling read/write functionality as required.

Regards
Khalid
