Ive been through-out a decent chunk of the internet, trying to figure out how to Auto-Fill or Auto-Populate a select number of Text Boxes on a form.

Example ill sit there type in someones ID number and his Name, Where he works. all of that information have come up yet considering its probably a really simple question, can someone please help me out.

Thank you, and im really sorry for the bother.

You lost me at:

"Example ill sit there " :D

Want to try again - :)

sure

Sure . i have a training databse, and one of the forms is the personnel form, it just sits there and when i type in and agents ID number, i would like for the rest of his information to come up. like his name, his rank, where hes working now, and ect.ect.

im trying to figure out if theres a certain expression i have to type in the controlled source or what not in order to to tie the rest of the fields on the form to the ID number. if you need me to elaborate its no problem

Thank you

In the On Change Event for the textbox for ID number use DLookup to populate the other relevant textboxes such as:

Me.Yourtextbox = DLookup("[fieldToReturn]", "TableOrQueryname", "[IDnum] = " & Me.ID)
Me.YourNexttextbox = DLookup("[fieldNextToReturn]", "TableOrQueryname", "[IDnum] = " & Me.ID)
etc,

Hope this helps?

Just a thought, but what if you changed AgentID to a cboBox, so that all your agents ID's are listed and then after a choice is made use the cboBoxes AfterUpdate event to autofill unbound text boxes with the info on the agent?

Just a thought,
Shane
