Hi,
We have inherited a series of access projects (adp) that are user front end’s to a SQL server back end (the same SQL db is used for ALL 4 ADP’s). The current connectivity in each case is via ODBC. What are the connection alternatives when using a SQL BE? And what are the pro’s and Con’s?

I realise that this is a broad question but any help would be appreciated.

Access 2003 and SQL Server 2000

Thanks in advance,

I'm developing against SQL Server 2008 with Access 2010. I believe ADPs are deprecated. My setup is Windows Authentication on the SQL Server (best practice), and linked tables (and views, since Access treats lined views as tables) via ODBC on the front end. One advantage of using linked tables versus an ADP is that you can still create local Access tables if you need to, to use instead of temporary table in TempDB on the SQL Server.

I'd convert those ADP's if they were mine.
