I would like to automate the number in my form. I have the field within the table set to autonumber. However, I would like to place three characters in front of the automated number. For example, PWW000001, PWW000002, PWW000003, PWW000004 etc etc. Can anyone help me? It's probably easy but I don't use Access very often.

Thanks.

Open your form in design view.

Select the field with the Autonumber (for the sake of argument, let's say the name of the field is Field1).

Change the name of the field in the form to Field1_Auto.

Set the Control Source property of the field to: ="PWW" & Format([Field1],"000000")

Save the changes to the form and close it.

See if this works for you.

Thanks so much. That worked great. I appreciate the help. :p

Bytemyzer,

But surely that will not save the value in a table, what happens when value is required out of the form,

I think it would be better to have another field in the table to store this value.
