My DB, one form in particular when opened is changing characters in fields to Chinese.

If I delete the form and re-import from a valid copy stored on another persons pc, it starts off fine, but as soon as I close it and reopen it, it converts the characters in the same fields to Chinese.

I have checked the language settings in Access and they are set to English.

Everyone elses form is working ok, so I presume it is something on this pc.

Any suggestions?

Just checked the form and we have no cocatenated text fields (which was a relief after reading that it could corrupt the db), the fields that seem to be affected are:

  • a date field, it either says #Error or #################
  • currency field,it says #################
  • number field, it says #Error
  • text field, with combo built in table - displays the funny characters either Chinese or wingdings
  • text field, which has data, but is blank
  • all other fields appear to be display ok.
The underlying table is fine, all the data is safe.
