So here it comes (and has been for two months) stupid Christmas again, stupid presents people don't want, too much food, people panicking, visiting / entertaining relatives you can't stand.

Not me, I avoid relatives (that are still alive) just a normal day except they keep bringing religion into it, which is bloody annoying.

So what are you all doing to celebrate the birth of a lucrative fairy story that has as much truth in it as an American politician. Or if you prefer, a pagan festival.

I plan to see an old movie called "A Christmas Carol" again. There is a character called "Scrooge" who hated Christmas. Then he saw others with much less income are having a good time. Finally, Scrooge also joined the fun and gave gifts to his employees and their families. Scrooge found real joy in giving.
We only have one life to live. Just enjoy and help someone in need.

Seen it. Got bored.

Couldn't relate to it. Totally unrealistic somebody would change like that, that's why it's fiction, like the bible.

I enjoyed Christmas as a child, then as a parent.

Now kids have grown up and no grandkids as yet.

That leaves drinking too much and just get drunk, but I gave the booze away.

So nothing left to do.

No wonder there are more suicides during the month of January than any other month.

Lucky I have a dog.

If that's not a sin, it should be :p

You are right.

No one should give up drinking.

I only did it for two weeks. Then I thought 2 Months because I was saving money. Before I knew it a year had passed then 2 years. I should considering drinking again like you suggested.

I know I will be enjoying time with both my blood relatives and my extended friendship family. We've grown into quite a group. Of course, we never need a reason to celebrate and the booze is definitely not given away unless it is shared amongst us. :D

I'm just ready for this year to be done. I need a new one. This one hasn't been the most kind to me.

We will also be celebrating Christmas with family and good friends, no liquor though because we live on dry land, but we can have a good time without sipping the tractor fuel.

Dont be in a huge rush to get part of your life done with, you only get so long, so you might not want to wish some of it away, it is not like you could ask for the time back when you see the finishline coming at you. :)

This year is our daughter's first Christmas, and she'll also turn a year old on New Year's Day - so it should be pretty cool.

I've had enough of it already though, there have been too many Xmas ads on the TV for far too long already, plus most shops on the high street (or online) are shoving Christmas in your face - and we haven't even put the decorations up yet!

Its coming far to quick, can't believe there are only a couple of weekends left!!!!

Went into town on Sunday to get provisions - seems the local economy is going pretty well based on the number of shoppers with armfulls of goods (or perhaps they approved an increase to their credit card limits). I will probably need to go into town once more before Christmas, and I know so many people will be more rushed and paniced then next time I go, but then I will not go until after the holidays are done with...

No, we leave that claptrap to the American continent to believe.

Although 90 Chinese people were detained in China for spreading word that the world will end. Knowing the Chinese it probably will for those 90.

It's Xmas eve evening here now, just have to survive tomorrow then it's over.

I'm starting on the Buck's Fizz at breakfast tomorrow, then I can breeze through the day oblivious to the futility of it all.

I had to look that one up. I think I'll be joining you, but we prefer mimosas over here. It appears the only difference is equal parts alcohol and juice in a mimosa where a Buck's Fizz has more juice than alcohol. :D

Not when you mix it yourself. :D I'll need a good snort to get me through to lunchtime.
