What's the difference between slaughtering horses for human consumption or slaughtering cows... These people need to get a grip...

Horses are traditionally slaughtered and eaten in France - its basically like steak. We used to have French teenage students stay with us, and on occasions they said they eat horses.

Personally I prefer beefsteak. Nice juicy rump steak / fried onions / mushrooms and chips.:D

Quite partial to a bit of rump myself

I think the aspca leadership is brain dead. They bring this on as a 'Cause' at the expense of other issues...

Yeah, one of their guvs. has just banned abortion in one of their states, I think it's to ensure they don't run out of candidates for the chair.

Here's an even more odd fact: In the US, it's ok to kill an unborn child, but against the law to destroy an eagle egg...

Maybe because eagles are an endangered species, but the human race is not. *shrug*

However I am not going to debate on abortion. I do not feel like getting my heart rate up right before my cardiologist apt today. :D

Sorry Sweetie...:o

OK, are these horses rasied for slaughter like cows? Or are they older horses who's usefullness has been exceeded? Where are the horses coming from is the bigger question. I mean thousands of cats and dogs are "put to sleep" every day for one reason or another, it is just we typically don't eat them (although dog meat is pretty dang tasty). Seems like another far left, off the wall group to me.

Like televangelists except this effort is preying on people with an affinity for horses...

No biggie, that is just a subject I can and have gone off on. :o There are a few subjects that will get me riled up, and that is one of them.

On another note, isn't horse meat eaten in Switzerland? I may be wrong, but I thought that was a country that ate it on a regular basis.

And don't cows roam free range style in India or somewhere over there?

Yes, I belive so. Cows are sacred in the Hindu religion.

What you eat all depends on where you live. I think one of the few domesticated animals not consumed are cats. Not sure, but I do not know of a country that eats cat.

Philipines if my sources are correct (they said they ate cat when they were there).
Cat, the Other white meat.
