Using Access 2007, I wanted to rename my FE/BE mdb files after some major modifcations. When I opened the FE.mdb, naturally could not find the BE.mdb linked tables. I tried to relink tables in the renamed BE but that did not work so I returned FE/BE to original names. Now, several of the BE linked tables and some queries in the FE are not readable (no read definition permission) and cannot be deleted (must have Modify Design permission / Delete Data permission). When I view All Access Objects in Navigation Pane, these tables and queries are "grayed out" like MSysObjects, etc.
Is there a way to restore permissions to these tables/queries or am I hurt too badly? Naturally, I did not back up the mdbs before attempting this stunt. . .

don't do anything else. take a windows copy before you try anything else

i would try and open a new dbs, and see if you can import the objects from your old database. if this works, do it a bit at a time, and take windows copies of the new one, as it gets bigger, until its all repaired.

ALWAYS ALWAYS take a back up copy of your current version.

Dave, Thx, when I tried to import objects to a new db, received the following: "You don't have permission to import, export, or link to [this object]". Somehow I need to set/reset permissions for these objects . . .

that sounds more hopeful.

had you secured your dbs against a workgroup (mdw file). if so, connect to the same workgroup in the new database, and try again.

Well, I decided I was hurt too bad to fix the old db so I started a new FE, imported all the objects that were not corrupted and rebuilt the ones that were. It links fine to the tables in the BE. I'll be going now to BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP. THX for this great forum!
